Regional District of Nanaimo Acquires Greens Landing Wharf
At last night's meeting, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board confirmed that an agreement has been signed with the federal government to transfer management and ownership of the wharf at Greens Landing on Gabriola Island. The transfer comes with $200,000 which will be held in reserve to pay for upkeep and maintenance. This will ensure minimal impact on tax payers and allow for continued use of this important island infrastructure."This is an exciting moment for residents of Gabriola and Mudge Islands," said Area Director Howard Houle. "We have been working with the federal government for a long time on this transfer and I know area residents will be pleased with this result."
The official transfer will take place on June 30, 2016. The transfer will not impact use of the wharf which will remain open to all users free of charge.
