RDN Board Announces New Chief Administrative Officer
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board is pleased to announce that Phyllis Carlyle will be joining the RDN as Chief Administrative Officer on October 11, 2016."On behalf of the Board, I would like to welcome Ms. Carlyle to the RDN," said Deputy Board Chair Colin Haime. "With her extensive experience at both regional and local municipalities, she is a leader who will bring a collaborative approach to regional services and relationships. We look forward to working with her as we continue to make progress on our strategic goals."
Ms. Carlyle was selected by the Board of Directors after a cross Canada search. She brings over 26 years of municipal experience to her new role including the past 12 years as the General Manager of Law and Community Safety at the City of Richmond. Ms. Carlyle holds a Law Degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Science from the University of Calgary.
"I look forward to serving the citizens of the RDN and working with the Board to deliver on the Board's priorities," said Ms. Carlyle.
Ms. Carlyle replaces Paul Thorkelsson who is now Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Saanich. Since Thorkelsson's departure in December 2015, Dennis Trudeau has been Interim-CAO and will resume his position as General Manager of Transportation, Solid Waste and Emergency Planning Services.
