RDN Parks Notice
Campfire Ban Lifted for Horne Lake Regional Park
Effective September 1, 2016, the Regional District of Nanaimo is permitting campfires at the Horne Lake Regional Park campgrounds. This action reflects Coastal Fire Centre's notice that campfires are now permitted throughout the Fire Centre area. The campfire ban in place at Descanso Bay Regional Park on Gabriola Island continues in effect further to a directive from the Island's Fire Chief.
The public is reminded that outside of the two designated RDN campgrounds, fires of any kind are always prohibited in RDN regional and community parks and trails.
The Regional District's overall ban on smoking in RDN parks and trails remains in place. The woods are still very dry. Please, play safe and help protect our forests.
To report a wildfire call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on most cellular networks.
