Topics include:

  • Septic systems and how they work
  • Septic system maintenance
  • Tips to make your system last longer

Proper maintenance has a significant impact on how well your septic system works and how long it lasts. Your home is one of your most important investments. Taking care of your septic system is like an insurance policy on that investment.

Learn how to keep your well in safe running order! wellSMART workshops will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions of local well drillers and pump installers, the Vancouver Island Health Authority, the BC Ministry of Environment, and North Island Labs. North Island labs will be present with sample bottles for residents to take home for testing, and will provide residents with a 10% discount for well water testing.

As your own 'water manager', it is your job to be wellSMART and properly care for your well in order to protect the health of your family, friends, community, and environment. Your well is the most important asset on your property and without an adequate water supply, your property value may decline. Taking proper care of your well may protect your investment and extend the operational life of your well.
