Topics include:

  • Septic system maintenance
  • Tips to make your system last longer

Learn how to keep your well in safe running order! wellSMART workshops will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions of local well drillers and pump installers, the Vancouver Island Health Authority, the BC Ministry of Environment, and North Island Labs. North Island labs will be present with sample bottles for residents to take home for testing, and will provide residents with a 10% discount for well water testing.

As your own 'water manager', it is your job to be wellSMART and properly care for your well in order to protect the health of your family, friends, community, and environment. Your well is the most important asset on your property and without an adequate water supply, your property value may decline. Taking proper care of your well may protect your investment and extend the operational life of your well.

Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Workshop - "We Are Ready!"

taking place on October 25th at Nanoose Place, 2925 Northwest Bay Rd., from 8:30 - 4:30 pm. FREE! Prize Draws!

This is the second annual workshop, back by popular demand! There will be speakers from RCMP Victim Services, Forestry/Wildfire Branch, Island Health, Nanaimo Hospital Foundation, Russell Roy (Disaster Simulation instructor) Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Program 'Best Practices' and table top exercise. Displays by regional emergency preparedness suppliers and response/recovery stakeholders. Lunch is provided by the Salvation Army Disaster mobile feeding van. Wear a fall weather coat as there will be fire extinguisher displays outside and the feeding van is outside (under cover). Over 150 people attended last year!
