Workshops @ Parksville Water Day Please pre-register!

  • WaterWise Gardening -- 11:30am - 12:15pm Convert yard space to food production! – Learn how to get started growing fruits and vegetables year-round to improve your self-sufficiency and nutrition, even in drought conditions. Topics include planning for year-round food production, pesticide free gardening, soil enrichment and a healthy ‘Soil Food Web’. Presented by Connie Kuramoto, master organic gardener.

  • Efficient Irrigation -- 12:30 - 1:15pm Do you have an in-ground irrigation system? There may be leaks, clogs and inefficient nozzles that are wasting water and costing you money! Learn how to get your system ready for the summer: ensure it delivers water effectively, schedule it efficiently and utilize water-saving hardware for a water smart system. This workshop is co-hosted by Kevin Luterbach, owner of Irritex Pumps and Irrigation, and the RDN’s Julie Pisani

  • Rain Gardens -- 1:30 - 2:15pm Slow it, spread it, sink it! In our communities we can put rainwater run-off to good use by creating beautiful rain gardens that help protect creek health and improve drainage issues.
