City of Parksville Media Release - July 18, 2018
Reminder of Top Bridge Park Trail Closure
To accommodate continued construction of the Englishman River Water Service project and for the ongoing safety of residents and visitors, a section of the Top Bridge Regional Trail remains closed until spring 2019.
The closure is from south of the E & N Railway overpass to sections within Top Bridge Park. Closure signage is posted at trailhead locations at the Industrial Park access, the end of Greig Road and in the parking lot at Top Bridge Park. Residents and visitors are reminded construction activities and the associated truck traffic pose a risk to the public; the trail closure is for the safety of the public.
It is anticipated the project which includes a new water intake, new water treatment plant and Top Bridge reservoir transmission main will be completed during summer 2019. When completed, this significant community project will allow compliance with Island Health’s operating conditions and the community’s water system will ensure high-quality, safe water to meet the demands of future generations.
When construction of the transmission main along the E & N Railway and Top Bridge Park is complete, a trail will be built over top of the transmission main which will enhance the community’s multi-use trail network and provide a strong east to west connection from Top Bridge to Springwood Park.
